The theory The good news are, you can reload every single switch separately reload slot x.
In a prefect world, one would assume that you can simple reload every single switch consecutively, so that they will just boot up with the image.
As a matter of fact, this may be possible, it depends — like so many things — on the IOS version.
Your upgraded switch will join the stack, but will not participate in stack switching because of stack protocol version mismatch.
The solution The solution is a bit tricky.
With a simple reload, I would have needed approximately 8 minutes from 12.

Introduction There are a number of scenarios when you would need to introduce a new switch into reload slot current stack member number existing stack reload slot current stack member number 3850 switches.
One particular example is when a new switch is purchased to expand the number of usable ports in the stack.
To successfully add a new switch to a stack, you will need to ensure that the same software version is running on the new reload slot current stack member number />Prior to IOS-XE release 3.
The goal of this feature is to ensure that any newly added switch will automatically be provisioned by the stack members with the running IOS-XE version.
One caveat to note however is that prior to 3.
This will ensure that any newly added stack members will automatically be upgraded.
Configure Once the switch is stacked and booted up, you will see a clear indication that there is a mismatch in versions and the new member will not fully join the stack.
For this example, my new switch is running IOS-XE version 3.
Once the newly joined member is fully booted, you can see that a mismatch has been detected.
Once the switch is booted back up, it will successfully join the stack with the correct IOS-XE version and software mode.
I use 3850's in a 911 Communications Center environment and I really need a solid answer to this from Cisco.
From the documentation, it looks as though any switch with whatever code that's incompatible with the stack gets upgraded or downgraded to what's on the stack and only the new switch will be rebooted.
Can I see documentation?
I don't want to see random answers telling not to use auto-anything.
It's a little disconcerting that there reload slot current stack member number any answers to the above question as it was posted 3 years ago.
I researched the auto upgrade feature before working in a customer switch into a new 3650 stack and it crashed the entire damn stack.
It'd be nice if the documentation I rely on for uptime and seamless implementation actually included this incredibly important detail.
I'm curious as to why this happened.
Has anyone experienced reload slot current stack member number like it before?

Just wondering if it is common place to configure Cisco switches as switch stacks i.
I'm not as familiar with the higher end Cisco switches i.
I'm familiar with configuring other vendor LAN stacks but haven't ever had to do it on a Cisco switch.
Can you stack 2950 reload slot current stack member number if they have the correct IOS?
Does anyone have a sample config they could share in configuring a Cisco switch stack?
I've read reload slot current stack member number the config options on the 3750 management page but would like to see a config from a production switch if possible as not all of the options here are compulsary.
The only issues I have run into when stacking them is the stack order is determined by the mac address of the switch and if you mix the 3750-12G and other models you need to change the SDM template of the 3750-12G.
As for the chassis style switches like the 4500 and 6500, it is managed as one switch and there is no stacking function.
It's not too bad really.
The bigger issue with the reload slot current stack member number is they don't really behave like a 3560 in the way they handle traffic and use hardware switching paths etc, they take some getting used to.
When you stack together 2 or more 3750's they appear to work as a single switch, the only thing that will give it away would be the port addressing unless you go looking to see if it's a stack So is there no config required here then to make them operate as a stack?
Does it achieve stacking using CDP or something and reload slot current stack member number the stack automatically change the newly added switch from member 1 default to i.
The only issues I have run into when stacking them is the stack order is determined by the mac address of the switch are 777 gaminator slots authoritative if you mix the 3750-12G and other models you need to change the SDM template of the 3750-12G.
visit web page had similar problems with other vendors.
This appears not to be a huge issue at face value but for support purposes it can be a real headache when managing switch stacks remotely via SNMP GUI software i.
Switch 2 Switch 3 Switch 1 master As for the chassis style switches like the 4500 and 6500, it is managed as reload slot current stack member number switch and there is no stacking function.
It's not too bad really.
The bigger issue with the 6500's is they don't really behave like a 3560 in the way they handle traffic and use hardware switching paths etc, they take some getting used to.
Ah ok I typo'd above with the 4500, forgot that was a chassis based switch.
The 3750's use a stacking cable o nthe back to make them a stack, when you connect them it makes the stack, no configuration required.
I would recommend connecting them in the correct order I think it's based on the higest MAC address is the first switc, second highest is the second switch to eliminate the need to use the "swap" command to make the interfaces match the physical layout.
